After releasing “Cobra,” the first single under her Hot Girl Productions, in November 2023, it became her eighth top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, according to Billboard. What’s more, it debuted at No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“This part of my album is very much so funded by Megan Thee Stallion because we’re trying to get off…Y’all know what’s the tea. But I have no label right now,” Megan Thee Stallion said during an Instagram Live in October 2023, per Billboard. “We’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. So, the budget is coming from me.”

She added, “Motherf—ing Hot Girl Productions! The next s— y’all about to see is all straight from Megan Thee Stallion’s brain and Megan Thee Stallion’s wallet. We are in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one.”

The 28-year-old also doubled down on her stance of not wanting to sign to a label for the time being. As previously reported by AFROTECH, she had been in a long heated legal battle with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, until recently.

The rap star’s vision to build out her music career by herself while simultaneously having outside support has come to fruition. According to Billboard, Megan Thee Stallion has inked a distribution agreement with Warner Music Group.

While maintaining ownership of her music recordings with Hot Girl Productions, she will utilize Warner Music Group’s distribution and marketing services. In addition, staff from 300 Entertainment, which was acquired by Warner Music Group, will be onboarded to her team, the outlet notes.

Megan Thee Stallion being backed by Warner Music Group comes nearly two months after she and 1501 Certified Entertainment “reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences,” per Billboard.
