Russell Westbrook Expands Portfolio With Investment In Leeds United Ownership Group

Russell Westbrook is not letting up on his quest to become a billionaire.

According to ABC News, the NBA superstar has officially joined the team of investors at 49ers Enterprises as it prepares to take over the England-based soccer club, Leeds United.

Expanding His Portfolio

“I was lucky enough to have conversations with some of the partners in this deal who already have ownership, the 49ers,” Westbrook shared July 13 during the Variety + Sportico’s Sports and Entertainment Summit, according to the outlet.

Just last month, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani revealed that a deal had been reached to sell his stake in the club to 49ers Enterprises, per ABC.

Since investing in Leeds in 2018, the investment arm of the NFL San Francisco 49ers franchise has served as a shareholder in the club.

“I was lucky enough to talk through that with friends, talking with my business partner as well about different things, and having conversations figuring out if this was the right deal and how we could make it different,” Westbrook shared.

Billionaire Dreams

As previously reported by AfroTech, the Los Angeles Clippers point guard has his sights set on becoming a billionaire “sooner than later.”

Billionaire Dreams

“I want to be a billionaire,” Westbrook said in an interview with Forbes.

His latest venture with the 49ers group is just one of many business moves that the Long Beach, CA, native has made in recent years to make his financial aspirations a reality.

In addition to sports, Westbrook has invested in various industries including food, drinks, muscle recovery as well as social media, per Forbes. The companies in his ever-growing portfolio include Triller, Magic Spoon, Pizzana, and more.

“Since I’ve been in the league, I’ve been trying to find my niche,” Westbrook said in the May 2023 interview with the business outlet.

From the looks of it, Westbrook is not one to sit around to wait for his dreams to come to fruition, he’s making them happen in real time.
